A Lancaster woman pleaded guilty Tuesday to fraud charges after she stole money and sold property from veterans organizations she worked for.
Jessika Hiepler, 46, was initially charged on Aug. 12 with two charges of wire fraud in connection to the scheme, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney's Office of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Hiepler served as a board member, the manager, treasurer and financial officer for American Legion Post 34—located on the 1300 block of Arcadia Road in Lancaster—for nearly 15 years. In 2019, she offered to help another veterans organization—the American Veterans Post 19 located on the 700 block of Fairview Avenue in Lancaster—recover from financial difficulties.
She falsely promised Post 19 an interest-free loan, low rent, and full transparency, the U.S. Attorney's Office said. She stole money from Post 34 in order to pay for the bailout, and once she was in control of Post 19's finances, she also stole its money for her personal benefit.U.S. Attorney's Office U.S.
