“DICT has the prerogative to extend the SIM Registration process for another 120 days,” said Lamentillo. She, however, stressed that this is not yet final as the possible extension is still being deliberated upon. “We are still deliberating on the matter. Now we’re focused on increasing the number of registrants before the April 26 deadline,” Lamentillo underscored.
The latest SIM Registration tally released by the National Telecommunications Commission showed that 42,057,902 SIMs have so far been registered. This is equivalent to at least 24.89 percent of subscribers nationwide.
