Rouven Mohr replaces Geoffrey Bouquot following a three-year stint in Sant'Agata
Audi has named Lamborghini's chief technology officer Rouven Mohr as its new R&D boss, replacing Geoffrey Bouquot, less than three years after he joined the company. The decision was taken by Audi’s supervisory board on 20 February, with Mohr appointed as board member for technical development with effect from 1 March, according to an official statement.
Bouquot will leave the company to pursue “new professional tasks outside the company”, Audi said. Bouquot joined Audi’s board of management in June 2024, initially overseeing innovation and software-defined vehicles before assuming responsibility for overall technical development in 2025. Prior to moving to Ingolstadt, he worked at French automotive supplier Valeo, where he served as Group CTO and Senior Vice President Strategy. His background was widely seen as strengthening Audi’s expertise in electronics and advanced driver assistance systems at a time when software and systems integration have become central to new model development. Mohr, 46, returns to Audi after serving as chief technical officer at Lamborghini since 2022. During his time there, he led the Italian marque’s hybridisation programme and oversaw a renewal of its model line-up, with all current models – the Revuelto, Temerario and Urus SE – launched in his tenure. He previously held a series of senior engineering roles within Audi and the wider Volkswagen Group, spanning new model development, validation and emissions compliance. In its statement, Audi described the new appointment as coming at a “decisive point” in its technological transformation, as the global automotive industry accelerates towards electrification and software-defined vehicles. Supervisory board chairman Manfred Döss said Mohr combines “technical expertise with a consistent focus on customer requirements and business success”. Mohr becomes the ninth board member for technical development at Audi in the past decade. Since Ulrich Hackenberg stepped down in late 2015, the position has been held by Stefan Knirsch, Peter Mertens, Hans-Joachim Rothenpieler and Markus Duesmann on an interim basis, followed by Oliver Hoffmann, Gernot Döllner in an interim capacity, and most recently Bouquot. Mohr will take up his new role on 1 March and, for an interim period, will also continue in his position at Lamborghini until a successor is appointed.
