LAKESIDE, Calif. — A Lakeside Union School District employee was arrested Sunday on child sexual abuse charges, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office. According to the agency, authorities received information regarding sexual abuse allegations of a minor on Sept.

8, 2025. After completing the investigation, the department said detectives had probable cause to believe 55-year-old Kent Cable was in violation of three counts of sexual penetration with a child 10 years of age or younger, and four counts of lewd and lascivious acts on a child under 14 years of age. Cable was arrested on the charges Sunday before being booked into San Diego Central Jail. 'Cable is employed by the Lakeside Union School District in a non-teaching role,' SDSO said.In a statement, Lakeside Union School District Superintendent Scott Goergens said:'On January 25, 2026, the San Diego Sheriff’s Office arrested a Lakeside Union School District classified employee and filed charges involving sexual incidents involving minor. Here is SDSO’s news release. This individual is employed as a Skilled Maintenance Worker in our Maintenance and Operations department.LUSD takes each and every reported act of misconduct seriously and is committed to pursuing any allegation to determine the truth and, if necessary, initiate the appropriate disciplinary or administrative measures. LUSD was made aware of the arrest on January 26 and the employee has not been present at any District property or sites since that date.The SDSO has responsibility for the ongoing investigation. They have notified us that none of these allegations involve student from the Lakeside Union School District. Due to legal constraints including privacy protections and confidential personnel matters, the details of this investigation and any victims cannot be disclosed. When the charges are filed, this case will be determined in a court of law. No official determination of guilt or innocence has been reached at this time.We would like to reassure our Lakeside families that the school and district have and will continue to take every precaution to ensure the safety of students and staff at our schools. Every family member deserves to know that the children are safe and treated with the utmost concern when they are at our Lakeside schools.
