Lakers Willing To Trade Two First Round Picks For Kyrie Irving - RealGM Wiretap

In a Sports Center appearance, ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski said the Los Angeles Lakers have changed their tune slightly in trade talks. After months of saying they wouldn't trade two of their own first round picks in a deal, the Lakers have made it known that they would trade two firsts in a deal for Kyrie Irving of the Brooklyn Nets.

Irving was first linked to the Lakers earlier this offseason. Irving has reportedly mended his relationship with LA star LeBron James and was open to the idea of a sign-and-trade to the Lakers. Since then, Irving picked up his player option with Brooklyn for next season and has committed to staying with the Nets for the upcoming year.

Los Angeles is limited to trading first round picks in 2027 and 2029, because they have other picks owed in upcoming years. Wojnarowski said those future picks"have a lot of value in the marketplace," but to this point the Nets haven't been interested. The Lakers continue to say they won't trade draft capital to dump Russell Westbrook's salary. But for the right players, Los Angeles is now open to moving both picks.
