A lake-effect snow advisory is in effect for several counties in Northeast Ohio, with accumulations of 1-3 inches expected. Driving is urged to be cautious due to icy and slippery conditions.

Snow fell throughout Cleveland and Northeast Ohio thanks to more lake-effect snow . Cuyahoga, Medina, Portage and Summit counties will remain under a snow advisory until 7 p.m. The areas could see an additional snow accumulation of one to three inches. The National Weather Service says driving will be difficult at times due to icy, slippery roads and reduced visibility.

It’s important to note that during lake effect snow the weather can change from bands of heavy snow in specific areas to dry weather only miles away. The weather service recommends that if you need to travel, keep a flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Lake and Ashtabula counties are often in the path for the worst of the lake effect snow. Snow showers mainly before 1 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 26 degrees. Total daytime snow accumulation of around an inch is possible. Chance of snow showers, mostly after 1 a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 20 degrees. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch is possible.
