In his ninth year in the organization, Lake Bachar thriving in Triple-A El Paso's bullpen
A starting pitcher when the Padres drafted him out of Wisconsin-Whitewater all the way back in 2016, Lake Bachar was never fully comfortable with the time off between starts. The layoff while losing the 2020 season to the pandemic and the following season to Tommy John surgery, of course, would have been especially vexing if he hadn’t been searching for all time in the world. Bachar’s father, David, was diagnosed with cancer of the esophagus in 2018.
Missions 1, Wichita 0: CF Jakob Marsee went 2-for-4 and scored the game’s only run on a double from LF Cole Cummings . RHP Jayvien Sandridge struck out three while earning his first save. RHP Woo-Suk Go struck out a batter in a scoreless eighth. RHP Ethan Routzahn earned the win with two shutout innings in relief after RHP Jared Kollar struck out four over four scoreless innings in the start.
