The Labour leader has been in Lancashire today
The Labour Party's deputy leader Angela Raynor warned that "people lose faith in politicians" amid scandals such as those surrounding Blackpool South MP Scott Benton.
The undercover investigation and secret filming of Mr Benton raised serious questions over MP relationships with lobbying firms - and the gambling industry in particular. His case brought the issue of influence to the fore, and alarms bells were set off by the apparent confidence with which he offered to leak a confidential policy document or “call in favours” from parliamentary colleagues on behalf of industry “investors” set alarm bells ringing.
"The Labour Party has led on this. There does need to be tighter regulation, updated regulation as well and we've led on that. It's important that this step has been taken."
