The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced on January 28th a recall of La Fiesta brand breadcrumbs sold across the United States due to an undeclared allergen. La Fiesta Food Products, LLC, based in La Miranda, California, initiated the recall on January 25th, after discovering the presence of sesame in both their 8-ounce packages of 'Unseasoned Bread Crumbs (Pan Rayado)' and 'Seasoned Bread Crumbs (Pan Rayado Sazonado).
'\The recall notice emphasizes that the labels do not include the required allergen declaration in Spanish. This omission poses a serious risk to individuals with sesame allergies or sensitivities, potentially triggering life-threatening allergic reactions. Despite the presence of sesame, La Fiesta Foods reports that no illnesses have been associated with this issue to date.\The unseasoned breadcrumbs were sold nationwide from April 10, 2024, through January 22, 2025, while the seasoned variety was sold from August 29, 2024, through January 22, 2025. La Fiesta Foods attributes the issue to labeling errors during production. Consumers who have purchased these recalled products are advised to return them to their point of purchase for a full refund. This recall highlights the importance of accurate food labeling and the potential dangers posed by undeclared allergens.
