Alexander is the city’s sixth appointed city manager, appointed in 1988. Alexander first worked as an administrative assistant.
Longtime La Cañada Flintridge City Manager Mark Alexander is retiring, the city announced this week, which will bring to an end what is said to be the longer tenure of a city manager in the San Gabriel Valley.
Alexander will depart in the spring — making him the longest-tenured city manager, and the longest-serving city employee at the city at 35 years. The city itself is only 47 years old. He would move on to serve the cities of Glendora and then Simi Valley before settling in for the long haul in La Cañada Flintridge.
