Kyle Tucker, Yordan Alvarez lead Astros again in second straight win over White Sox

CORRECTS TO WHITE SOX CATCHER SEBY XAVALA NOT YANIER DIAZ - Houston Astros' Kyle Tucker, right, watches his RBI-single hit in front of Chicago White Sox catcher Seby Xavala, second from left, during the seventh inning of a baseball game Saturday, April 1, 2023, in Houston. Astros right fielder Kyle Tucker received his second-team All-MLB award before Saturday's game at Minute Maid Park. Looks like he's pushing for first team in 2023.

Tucker, who also received his 2022 Gold Glove Award on Saturday, had played a big role in Friday's win, also by a 6-3 score. In that one, he hit a two-run homer to get the Astros within a run, kept the margin there with a catch robbing Andrew Benintendi of extra bases, and, after the Astros had taken a 5-3 lead in the seventh, stole second before scoring an insurance run in the eighth.

Astros starter José Urquidy surrendered all three Chicago runs in his four innings before Ronel Blanco, Ryne Stanek and Hector Neris prevented any more runs until the ninth. Neris, who fanned Elvis Andrus with two aboard to end a threat in the eighth , allowed a run in the ninth before notching his first save by striking out Yoán Moncada with runners at first and third. As if the Astros' bullpen weren't dominant enough, along comes Ronel Blanco.

The Astros signed Blanco as a 22-year-old in 2016, and his rise has been slow and steady. A year in rookie ball was followed by a year in Class A, then a year split between Class A and Class AA, and a 2019 season that saw him pitch at all three minor league levels, primarily Class AAA.
