Insiders are revealing Summer House’s Kyle Cooke reaction when he learned about estranged wife Amanda Batula and fellow costar West Wilson’s romance. “Kyle always knew Amanda would eventually move on, but he never imagined it would be with a castmate or anyone within their own circle,” a source exclusively tells Us Weekly.
“The idea of her dating a castmate is something he’s really struggled to wrap his head around.” The insider shares that Kyle, 43, “was genuinely blindsided by the news and completely caught off guard” by Kyle and Amanda’s confirmed relationship, “especially given how close the group is.” “It’s not just the relationship itself that surprised him, but who it’s with, which has made it even harder for him to process,” the source says. “He is definitely upset by the news but also knows it takes a bit of heat off him and their marriage dynamic.” A separate source tells Us shortly before news broke of Amanda, 34, and West’s romance, Kyle “didn’t fully know what’s going on and didn’t want to believe it.”Kyle and Amanda, for their part, announced their separation in January after four years of marriage. “After much reflection, we have mutually and amicably decided to part ways as a couple,” Kyle and Amanda wrote in an Instagram statement at the time. “We share this with a heavy heart and kindly ask for your grace and support while we focus on our personal growth and healing.” They continued, “It feels ironic to ask for privacy during this time. since we’ve always tried to be open and honest about our relationship, but your kindness and respect will go a long way as we try to navigate our next chapter.” Months later, Amanda confirmed swirling rumors that she was in a romantic relationship with fellow Summer House costar and BFF Ciara Miller’s ex-boyfriend West, 31. 'We've seen the growing online speculation, so while this is still very new, we wanted to provide some clarity,' Amanda and West wrote in a joint Instagram Story statement on Tuesday, March 31. 'It was never our intention to purposely hide anything. Given the complicated relationship dynamics involved and the scrutiny that comes with being on a reality show, we needed a little space to process things privately before speaking on it.' Amanda and West went on to address how their platonic relationship eventually evolved into something more. 'We've shown up for each other as friends over the years, through all the highs and lows, and what's developed recently was the last thing either of us expected,' the pair continued. 'Our connection grew out of a genuine, longstanding friendship, which made it especially important for us to approach this with care.' The statement concluded, 'As our feelings evolved, we wanted to take time to understand exactly what we were feeling. We also recognize that this has had an impact beyond just us and never wanted our actions to cause any hurt or be perceived as careless. We truly appreciate the understanding and respect as we navigate this.'
