John Tesar is modeling parts of Knife Italian after his Orlando restaurant with a Michelin star.
The Four Seasons in Las Colinas is now the Ritz-Carlton. With that comes a new restaurant, Knife Italian, from Dallas chef John Tesar. Some of its menu is inspired by the steak and seafood dishes atKnife Italian will serve steak, seafood, pizza and pasta inspired by the chef’s upbringing in New York.
Tesar has been a friend to well-known people in the food world like Anthony Bourdain, but he was also called Dallas’ “The split-level dining room at Knife Italian includes tables that fit together like puzzle pieces, connecting one dining area to another.That doesn’t feel like the case in Irving/Las Colinas.
A separate bar and pizza room seems like a good place for solo travelers to eat: Chefs will put on a show as they place pizzas in a roaring oven. Beyond the expected pepperoni pizza, Knife Italian will also sell a white clam pizza and a potato, truffle and duck egg option.A black and white oval table is a focal point in one of many rooms at Knife Italian in Irving/Las Colinas. By opening day, the slate-colored plates will be topped with hot pink napkins.
Importantly, France-based Michelin designates parts of the world where it sends its inspectors. Texas is not and has never been on Michelin’s map, meaning that no restaurant in Dallas-Fort Worth or beyond is eligible to receive a Michelin star. It is, however, a designation that many fine-dining chefs wish were available in Texas; a Michelin nod brings serious cache — and customers..
