As ridership begins to climb, the number of safety incidents aboard Metro buses is on a steady decline, according to newly released numbers from the transit agency.are now hovering near 300,000 per day, which is a 22% increase over last year and a 156% surge over 2020 during the height of COVID. At the same time that ridership grows, Metro recorded 3,789 security incidents from January through August of this year. This is down 22% from the levels in 2020 during the same time period.

Drug-related offenses have also decreased, according to Metro. Through August of this year, the transit agency recorded 789 incidents involving drugs, a nearly 44% drop over the 1,403 reports during the same time period in 2023.21-year-old manAs Metro works to improve safety, more bus services are being added.
