A King County Metro bus driver was fatally stabbed during an altercation on board his bus in Seattle's University District. Police are searching for a suspect.
A King County Metro driver was killed in a stabbing on board a bus in the University District . The incident happened around 3 a.m. Wednesday on the bus in the 4100 block of University Way NE near the University of Washington (UW) campus, according to a Seattle Police Department (SPD) spokesperson. Video from the scene showed the bus cordoned off with crime scene tape and officers searching the area.
Detectives said the 59-year-old driver made it a few steps to a nearby alley, where he collapsed. Officers arrived to find a man with stab wounds to his chest. An SPD spokesperson said the driver was stabbed after a fight on the bus. Police are searching for the suspect who's described as a man, 6 feet, 1 inch tall, and wearing a blue jacket. He was reported to have left northbound in an alley. Seattle police officers and King County Sheriff’s Office deputies used a K-9 to search for the suspect, but he was not found. Police cordoned off the area until SPD homicide detectives and crime scene investigators arrived to collect evidence.
