North Korean leader Kim Jong Un views a strengthened US security partnership with South Korea and Japan as a grave threat, vowing to further develop his country's nuclear capabilities. He also reasserts North Korea's support for Russia's war in Ukraine.

North Korea n leader Kim Jong Un warned that a strengthened U.S. security partnership with South Korea and Japan poses a significant threat to his country. Kim made the statement during a speech marking the 77th anniversary of the Korean People's Army, condemning the trilateral security partnership as a U.S. plot to create a NATO-like bloc in the region. He claimed it's leading to military imbalance on the Korean Peninsula and jeopardizes the security of North Korea .

Kim reiterated his commitment to bolstering North Korea's nuclear forces, vowing to develop them even further. This comes amidst stalled diplomacy with the U.S. and South Korea in recent years, during which Kim has focused on expanding and modernizing his nuclear arsenal. In response, the U.S. and South Korea have strengthened their military exercises and cooperation. Kim also expressed unwavering support for Russia's war in Ukraine, accusing the U.S. of instigating the conflict.Meanwhile, former U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed his willingness to re-engage with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, stating during a Fox News interview that he had a good relationship with Kim and believes he prevented war. Trump met with Kim three times between 2018 and 2019, but the talks ultimately failed to yield a lasting agreement on denuclearization. Some experts suggest that Kim might be open to returning to diplomacy with Trump if he perceives that the current cooperation with Russia won't be sustained after the war in Ukraine ends. However, there are concerns that Trump might prioritize a diplomatic breakthrough over complete denuclearization of North Korea, potentially jeopardizing the international community's longstanding goal
