After Lamar Odom had a near-fatal overdose in 2015, Khloe Kardashian pressed pause on their divorce proceedings to help him recover
Khloé Kardashian had a vivid dream about ex-husband Lamar Odom dying — and attending his funeral — just one day before he had a near-fatal overdose. “I remember my ex-husband had a major overdose where he basically died and then came back to life,” Kardashian, 41, recalled during the Wednesday, March 25, episode of her “Khloé in Wonder Land” podcast.
She remembered, “The night before — we weren’t talking at the time, we were going through a divorce — and I had a dream the night before and it was that I went to his funeral. And I was at his funeral crying and I was like, ‘I just need to call him.’” On her way to a photo shoot in 2015, Kardashian said she did try to call Odom, 46, but he “didn’t answer,” which she said didn’t raise any red flags because of their dynamic amid their divorce. “I remember calling my mom just to tell her about my dream, which I don’t do. But I just needed to get it out,” the Kardashians star explained to her podcast guest, dream analyst Lauri Loewenberg. Once Kardashian wrapped her photo shoot, she recalled getting a call from one of her sisters who told her, “Lamar overdosed.” “They told me, the hospital said at one point, he passed away. my dream,” the Good American cofounder revealed. While it felt like her dream was coming to fruition, Kardashian said when she got to the hospital, the staff was like, “Oh, he’s still alive,” calling it a “doozy” of a day. Although Kardashian’s dream was more of a premonition, she admitted she didn’t instantly recall what her brain had experienced. “When I found out about him, I didn’t remember my dream. I was so emotional and not thinking,” she shared. “And my mom was like, ‘You called me this morning.’ She brought it up.” Kardashian mused, “I think that’s why I was so upset, because I thought he was gone,” adding that it was the “strongest dream that's actually come true” in her lifetime. Kardashian’s dream transpired one day before Odom overdosed on cocaine and opiates in October 2015 while he was at a legal brothel in Las Vegas. The overdose resulted in the former NBA player being comatosed. Odom later revealed that he suffered 12 strokes and multiple heart attacks after taking the drugs. After being in a coma for three to four days, Odom woke up and was taken off his ventilator. The former Los Angeles Lakers player, who has a history with addiction, remained hospitalized in Las Vegas for about a week before being transferred to a Los Angeles hospital to relearn how to walk and talk. Amid his recovery, Kardashian stood by his side and pressed pause on their divorce. Kardashian, who married Odom in 2009, initially filed for divorce in 2013. However, she stopped the proceedings in 2015 to help her estranged spouse get back on his feet. Kardashian filed for divorce again in May 2016, once Odom was out of the hospital, and it was finalized later that year.
