The jarred dessert concept sounds easy enough, but owner Kevin Keough has been perfecting each layer of flavor for three years. The little shop has 30 different flavors from which to choose.
, a Chardon bakery in November. Once locals discovered him at 106 Cherry Avenue, he was busy throughout the holidays selling his signature desserts-in-a-jar for party and personal consumption.
The jarred dessert experience consists of a filling -- mousse/cheesecake/pie/cake -- with a compatible cookie/cracker base, freshly whipped cream and a garnish layered in a glass mason jar. He uses the jars because they are simple, reusable and good for the environment. “I was always playing around making my own recipes,” says Keough, “I started with raspberry and followed with other flavors.”Most desserts are served in short, wide-mouth, 8-ounce jars . They serve 1 to 2 depending on appetite and self-discipline. Larger 16-ounce are available in some of the more popular flavors or by special order. Seasonal flavors, such as pumpkin cheesecake mousse for Thanksgiving and cranberry mousse cheesecake or eggnog cheesecake mousse were available in December.
