Keke Palmer shares her current workout routine, her wellness non-negotiables, her health and fitness goals, and her best tips for staying consistent.
Keke Palmer doesn't like to stray too far from her wellness routine. She's in bed by 10 p.m. , does Pilates every morning, enjoys, and calls sleep a"non-negotiable." She's figured out what works for her, and she's not planning on deviating from that anytime soon.
"I really like Pilates, I like hiking, walking on the treadmill, and," Palmer tells Popsugar."I used to really stress myself out with cardio until I realized that I'm maybe more suited for Palmer has her preferences, but she still has goals she'd like to achieve and areas where she intends to grow."It's always been a dream of mine to run a marathon," she says."Running a love-hate relationship. I think it can feel really good, especially being an ADHD-type person myself, where it's good to let off that steam." At least, with the right trainer to help her pace herself. On the flip side, Palmer isn't the biggest fan of deadlifts, which she worries may hurt her back, and she'd rather prioritize gentle workouts to help" saying no and just letting that be that. Like not taking on things that I don't want to take on, that don't make me happy, that don't make me excited, that I'm not interested in," Palmer says."That's a big form of self-care I've been doing this year.", which melds her love of fashion with the kind of functional activewear she wears all the time."I'm so big on being able to start my day with my workout and then go about my day," Palmer says."Every now and then, especially if I'm going to an event, maybe it's a different kind of look that's a little bit more elegant . . . but in my everyday life, I'm always going to be in athletic gear." Despite her superstar lifestyle — premieres, red carpets, and the like — Palmer's regimen isn't especially glamorous. It's about basic principles that actually work: moving in ways that feel good in her body, getting a full night's sleep, fueling her body well, and being honest with herself when she gets off track. "This week I was feeling really down on myself because I felt that I had fallen short," Palmer says, pointing to a particularly busy point in her schedule."So I've been really honest, talking to my mom, my support group, and just being like, 'I feel really tough this week. This is a really hard time for me.'" But she doesn't let blips like these ruin her progress. Instead, she turns to simple rituals, like drinking enough water and eating food that makes her feel good, until she can get all the way back on track. "You're not always going to be perfect. And sometimes things do fall through the cracks. A big thing that I've learned on my journey of consistency is to not beat myself up," Palmer says."Sometimes other things fall short and I just have to say, 'Hey, let me make sure that I'm aware of that, and then let me try again tomorrow.'" is a social producer and staff writer for the Health & Fitness team at Popsugar.
