ALOR SETAR: The Covid 19 situation in Kedah is still not at a level where a decision to cancel Friday prayers is needed, says Kedah Mufti Datuk Syeikh Fadhil Awang.
"Our religious tolerates the cancellation of Friday prayer only when the situation is serious, can cause infection or harm to the pilgrims attending prayers at the mosque, ” he said after attending a special state disaster committee meeting chaired by Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir at Wisma Darul Aman on Monday .
Commenting on the move by certain states to suspend prayers, Syeikh Fadhil said it was the view of those states. "However, if the Covid 19 situation in the state become serious, then a decision will be made to cancel Friday prayers.“The cancellation of Friday prayers would also cover other regular praying sessions.
