Tshwane's Kalafong Provincial Tertiary Hospital is the latest victim of the water struggles plaguing Rand Water in Gauteng. | IamAlexSweet

On Sunday afternoon, after cries for water at the facility, Health and Wellness MEC Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko conducted an oversight visit at the hospital.

In a statement, the Gauteng Department of Health said the hospital in Atteridgeville was severely affected by the water outages affecting various parts of Tshwane, including local communities surrounding Kalafong. Bulk water supplier Rand Water had announced challenges in its system which was impacting supply to the city.

On Sunday evening, the City of Tshwane said there was “still no supply from Rand Water, hence … Atteridgeville HL reservoir remains empty."According to the health department, the outage led to the hospital's two reservoirs which have the capacity of 748 000 and 480 000 litres running extremely low.
