Residents and councillors in Phoenix and Verulam, as well as Tongaat, will take part in a candlelight protest at the Phoenix electricity and Ottawa water depots.
The DA’s KZN leader Francois Rodgers says the water and electricity outages in these areas sometimes last for days at a time. He says they will hand over a memorandum with grievances and proposed solutions to the supply crisis.“The mayor himself, just recently in a statement, apologised for the poor service delivery he has also highlighted the fact that there are officials in eThekwini who are not doing their jobs properly.
“So this is really just a call upon the mayor and the ANC in eThekwini to start dealing with these officials so we can ensure that people in communities have the neccessary services that they deserve."
