Nearly a year ago, Monroe County Executive Adam Bello announced a program to address the increase in teen and juvenile offenses. To further safeguard the community, Monroe County Probation works with local law enforcement to review and assess juvenile and teen arrests. They then decide whether to house the offender in detention or to issue them an expedited appearance ticket."Those diversion officers might handle up to 25 cases, but only 5 of them might be current JEDS kids," Durant said. "We also have officers that do court-ordered supervision of youth that have gone through the entire process.
