Renata Liehy said in an interview with Danielle Willig, a software saleswoman based out of Atlanta, told Globo she initially thought the loud was the plane's landing gear going up before someone began yelling,"fire, fire, fire!" "I’ve never experienced such despair in my life," Willig said, speaking in Portuguese."I’ve never felt this fear of flying. I fly a lot. But it was a real fear of dying, of looking and seeing that the plane wasn’t taking off. I only thought about my family." Passengers also praised the pilot's handling of the situation, saying he helped keep everyone calm and was"brilliant" at landing the plane safely.
