A New York City jury reached a verdict in Donald Trump’s hush money trial Thursday afternoon.

Former President Donald Trump arrives for a press conference at 40 Wall Street after a pre-trial hearing at Manhattan criminal court, Monday, March 25, 2024, in New York. A New York judge has scheduled an April 15 trial date in former President Donald Trump's hush money case. Judge Juan M. Merchan made the ruling Monday. A New York City jury found Donald Trump guilty on all felony counts in his hush money trial Thursday afternoon. The verdict was returned Thursday after 9 1/2 hours of deliberations. The former president called the trial "rigged" and blamed the Biden administration for Thursday's outcome."The real verdict is going to be on November 5," said a defeated Trump.Trump is facing up to four years per count. The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office charged Trump with 34 felony counts of falsifying business records at his company in connection with an alleged scheme to hide potentially embarrassing stories about him during his 2016 Republican presidential election campaign. The maximum years the former president can be sentenced to prison is 20 years. Legal experts believe Trump would not serve prison time, if he's convicted, because he has no criminal history and the alleged crimes are considered non-violent.The prosecution and defense team was brought back into the courtroom Wednesday when jurors raised questions about the judge's instructions to them and about testimony. The defendant, who has criticized the trial and called it "election interference" spoke about the charges. "Mother Teresa could not beat these charges. These charges are rigged. The whole thing is rigged," Trump said as the jurors deliberated Wednesday. Trump is the presumptive Republican presidential nominee. It's likely that he and his legal team would appeal any conviction.
