A federal judged ordered on Tuesday that construction on President Donald Trump's $400 million White House ballroom installation be halted.

by ANISSA REYES | The National News DeskConstruction cranes being used for the White House ballroom are seen around the White House, Monday, March 23, 2026, in Washington. Trump responded on Truth Social saying the ballroom project, along with renovations to the Trump Kennedy Center are "under budget, ahead of scheduled " and "being built at no cost to the taxpayer.

" The National Trust for Historic Preservation sues me for a Ballroom that is under budget, ahead of schedule, being built at no cost to the Taxpayer, and will be the finest Building of its kind anywhere in the World," Trump wrote. Yet, The National Trust for Historic Preservation, a Radical Left Group of Lunatics whose funding was stopped by Congress in 2005, is not suing the Federal Reserve for a Building which has been decimated and destroyed, inside and out, by an incompetent and possibly corrupt Fed Chairman," he added. "Doesn’t make much sense, does it? The decision comes after months of litigation with Judge Richard J. Leon, who delivered the decision in a 35-page memorandum opinion.Leon wrote that the president likely did not have authority to act on his project to replace entire sections of the White House, including the already demolished East Wing, where Trump planned to put the new ballroom. He also stated concerns that had been mentioned for months in court including that from the start of the project, the Trump administration has provided shifting details of who was in charge of the project and under what authority private donations would be allowed to fund it. Unless and until Congress blesses this project through statutory authorization, construction has to stop!” Leon wrote. “But here is the good news. It is not too late for Congress to authorize the continued construction of the ballroom project.Leon also wrote that if the White House sought congressional approval, then the legislature would "retain its authority over the nation’s property and its oversight over the government’s spending."More than a decade after Washington legalized recreational cannabis, a new survey suggests many clinicians are increasingly worried about the mental-health riskA Bellevue, Washington, tax preparer who built a client base among tech workers was convicted of assisting in the creation of false tax returns, federal prosecuA weakness in the system used to detect improper payments in subsidized child care contributed to an estimated $37M in questionable payments.A person is dead after being pulled from the water at Green Lake, according to the Seattle Fire Department.Gov.
