A judge presiding over the Fulton County special grand jury that is recommending indictments involving efforts to subvert the 2020 general election results ordered District Attorney Fani Willis (D) to respond to Trump's motion to quash the jury's efforts.

Fulton Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney told Willis's office on Monday to respond by May 1 to Trump's March 20 motion that"seeks the disqualification of the District Attorney's Office from any further investigation into or prosecution of such alleged interference.

In their March 20 request, Trump's counsel also said a report which may contain recommendations for specific charges related to the inquiry should be quashed. The special grand jury enlisted to assist in the inquiry reportedly recommended multiple indictments that could be related to conspiracy and racketeering charges, though no defendants have been named.

Willis began her investigation into alleged election interference days after a recording was posted of a January 2021 phone call Trump made to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger urging him to “find” enough votes to overturn his defeat in Georgia.
