FOX10 News is following the fate of a rural hospital in southwest Alabama.
FOX10 News continues to follow the fate of Thomasville Regional Medical Center, a rural hospital in Southwest Alabama.citing staffing shortages. Two weeks ago, the hospital’s bank, North Avenue Capital, filed a civil action requesting that a receiver be appointed to take over the hospital’s assets.
As FOX10 News has reported, TRMC has faced a slew of financial struggles particularly since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. TRMC was one of just 3 hospitals nationwide to not receive relief funding since the hospital was ineligible for COVID relief fund.On Friday, FOX10 News learned some employees were paid this week, but some of them only received a fraction of their paychecks.
Thomasville Mayor Sheldon Day says he gets choked up every time he sees a TRMC hospital employee. He says his heart breaks for the uncertainty they’re facing. Still, he says he’s hopeful.
