Thomasville Mayor Sheldon Allison Day is going into greater detail on what led TRMC to suspend its operations.
On Friday, Thomasville Regional Medical Center announced it is suspending operations until further notice and blaming staffing issues, according to a post on the facility’s Facebook page.
I know very well how everyone feels. I have experienced anger, hurt, and said some things to the owners of TRMC a few days ago that I had to ask the Lord to forgive me for saying. That is out of character for me but, I am human. Tenor and other groups are interested in purchasing TRMC. However, in my opinion, they have paused their offers due to the current state of TRMC or due to unrealistic expectations of the owners. In some cases they have not been able to get the financing they need in a timely manner to prevent what happened this week. These groups and others who have contacted me today are still very interested in opening discussions to purchase TRMC from the Bank who holds the mortgage.
We intend to work with TRMC ownership to ensure the hospital remains compliance with state regulatory requirements at the facility so it can be in a position to restart operations under a new owner as soon as possible.
