Heading into the third consecutive week, Jon Bernthal's latest murder mystery thriller, His & Hers, co-starring Tessa Thompson, has once again emerged as the most-streamed series on Netflix. The series premiered on the streamer on January 8th and became an instant hit on the platform both in the US and across multiple international territories.
His & Hers outranked Stranger Things, snapped the streaming crown from Harlan Coben's latest Netflix adaptation, Run Away, and is now holding on firmly to it despite facing competition from Skyscraper Live, the streamer's live event covering the adventures of expert climber Alex Honnold. His & Hers stars Bernthal and Thompson as estranged partners pulled into a murder investigation tied to a victim they’re both connected to. The gripping thriller keeps viewers guessing by dangling multiple suspects before unleashing its biggest twist in the final moments. Adapted from Alice Feeney's 2020 mystery thriller of the same name, the six-episode limited series was created by William Oldroyd and is perfectly sized for a weekend binge. That bingeability is clearly paying off, as audiences devoured the show for a third consecutive week, driving it to an additional 17.2 million views and maintaining the No. 1 spot on Netflix’s English-language TV chart. The full synopsis for the series reads: "Set in the sweltering heat of Atlanta, Anna lives in haunting reclusivity, fading away from her friends and career as a news anchor. But when she overhears about a murder in Dahlonega – the sleepy town where she grew up – Anna is snapped back to life, pouncing on the case and searching for answers. Detective Jack Harper is strangely suspicious of her involvement, chasing her into the crosshairs of his own investigation. There are two sides to every story: HIS & HERS, which means someone is always lying." His & Hers major competition last week was from the aforementioned Skyscraper Live, which streamed Alex Honnold’s jaw-dropping free solo climb of one of the world’s tallest buildings. Events like this carry broad, must-watch appeal, and despite being available for just a two-day window, the special racked up an impressive 6.2 million views, landing at No. 3 on the charts. Sitting just ahead at No. 2 was Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials, which pulled in an additional 8.7 million views. While His & Hers dominated Netflix’s English-language TV rankings, it wasn’t the most-watched title overall. That honor once again went to Matt Damon and Ben Affleck’s thriller The Rip, which amassed a massive 40.4 million views to top Netflix’s movie chart for a second consecutive week. Will 'His & Hers' Return For Season 2? His & Hers was originally conceived as a limited series designed to tell a self-contained story, but its twist-heavy finale left just enough room for potential continuation. As is often the case, extending a limited series beyond its original vision typically comes down to reception, and in this case, fan response has been loud and enthusiastic. Series creator William Oldroyd has recently weighed in on the possibility of continuing the story, noting that any future plans ultimately rest in Netflix’s hands. He, however, shared his thoughts on the direction of a potential follow-up, saying: “The question I have, which I would be interested to ask all the guys I made this with is, ‘Where do you pick it up from? Do you pick it up straight from where you’ve just left off? What does she do with this information? Or do we just move on?’ For me, it’s like, ‘Do you want to see what she does with that information, or do you want to just start from a position which is further down the line, and she’s sitting with it, and it’s still there, and she knows the truth, see how it plays out with her relationship with her mother after that?’” While we wait for Netflix's decision on another season, you can enjoy the limited series exclusively on Netflix and stay tuned for future updates.
