Musgrove allows three runs in five innings in first start off the injured list; Padres make the most of six hits, including Tatis' first home run since '21
With the second highly anticipated season debut in three days, the reinforcements have arrived.
His fly ball that just cleared the wall in left field gave the Padres a 1-0 lead two batters in. A one-out walk by Xander Bogaerts and two-out double hit a projected 412 feet and off the center field wall by Matt Carpenter, made it so that Musgrove took the mound for his first start of the season with a 2-0 lead.
A bunch of those were eaten up in the first inning, as three one-out singles halved the Padres’ lead and pushed Musgrove to 25 pitches. They were unable to do anything with two walks in the fifth inning, but Tatis began the sixth by drawing another walk.
