The Jersey City public schools will move to remote learning next week, joining most other Hudson County school districts in going the virtual route in light of the surge of COVID cases areawide.

“As a precautionary measure, we return to virtual instruction for a week effective Monday, Jan. 3, 2022,” a notice to parents and guardians on the district website advised this afternoon. “We anticipate returning to in-person learning on Monday, Jan. 10, 2022. We will continue to update you as circumstances change.”

The Bayonne, Harrison, Union City, West New York and North Bergen public school districts announced Wednesday that they would return to remote learning next week. The Jersey City district also announced that lunch and breakfast will be available at 20 different schools throughout the City between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. starting Tuesday and said families should check their parents guides for details.
