Model years 2024 through 2026 are affected, but it's an easy fix at the dealer.
Jeep is recalling nearly 12,000 Wagoneer S electric crossovers sold in the United States. Certain 2024 through 2026 models could have an issue with the tailgate hinge covers. Dealers will inspect and replace the problematic covers free of charge.
Stellantis is recalling certain 2024 through 2026 Jeep Wagoneer S electric SUVs sold in the United States over a potential rear liftgate issue. In total, 11,767 cars are potentially involved in the recall, per the official documents issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration . According to the recall report, the affected vehicles could have been fitted with improperly attached rear hinge covers that may detach while driving, potentially creating a road hazard for other drivers, which can cause an accident. The automaker said it is aware of 32 field reports where one or more rear liftgate hinge hovers have detached, with two customer assistance records and 17 warranty claims. However, as of February 18, 2026, Jeep is not aware of any accidents or injuries potentially related to this issue for all markets, not just the United States. The fix is free, so owners should contact their dealers, where service technicians will inspect the liftgate hinge covers. If they’re in good shape, they may just be clicked back into place. If they’re missing or damaged, new covers with an improved design will be installed. The final decision will be made by the dealer, though. This is the fifth recall for the Jeep Wagoneer S, but it’s by far the largest, with most of the previous recalls addressing fewer than 400 cars each. The second-largest recall for the Wagoneer S includes 3,919 vehicles that could have incorrectly adjusted headlights. All this being said, the few recalls that Jeep’s first U.S.-market EV has had should be the least of its problems. When Patrick George drove the 2025 model, he noted that good looks and speed are about the only nice things he could say about it. That’s because the car was riddled with software glitches that made it feel like an unfinished product.
