JEA crews will start a three-month water main replacement project on San Jose Boulevard, causing lane closures during construction. The project aims to improve water system reliability.
JEA crews will begin a three-month water main replacement project on San Jose Boulevard starting Monday night. The work, expected to last until late September, is necessary to ensure the reliability of the water system and prevent future outages and traffic disruptions. JEA officials determined that the existing water main required full replacement after a comprehensive evaluation.
To prioritize the safety of both workers and the public, lane closures will be implemented in each direction on San Jose Boulevard between I-295 and Ricky Road. Lane closures will primarily occur during overnight hours, from 8:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., with one northbound lane closed. However, it's important to note that dates and times may be subject to change. Extended or weekend work hours may be necessary to expedite the project's completion. Drivers are strongly encouraged to plan ahead for potential delays and consider alternative routes, such as I-295, whenever feasible. Speed limits in the construction zone will be reduced to 35 mph for safety reasons. Drivers are urged to adhere to all construction signage, detours, and instructions provided by JEA crews. This project will not impact customers' regular water, sewer, or electric service. In the event of planned outages, affected customers will receive a 48-hour advance notification. JB Coxwell Contracting Inc. is contracted to carry out the water main replacement work
