on Monday, “Our thoughts are with the family, friends, and Loyola University community grieving the senseless murder of Sheridan Gorman. Violent crime has no place in our streets, and we expect the alleged perpetrator to be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.

She was"just beginning her journey as a college freshman—embracing new experiences, building friendships, and living the life every parent hopes their child will have," they said. Gorman was from Yorktown Heights, New York, and was studying business at Loyola University, her friends said at a memorial service on Thursday night, thereported. She was also involved with the Christian campus group Cru, her friends said. A GoFundMe set up to support memorial activities and a scholarship in her name described her as"pure light." "Shera loved deeply and lived fully. She loved Jesus, her family, her sister Maddie most of all, her lifelong friends, and the simple, beautiful moments that made up her life. She had a way of making everyone feel special, seen, and loved. To know her was to be changed by her," the GoFundMe reads.Sheridan Gorman's family said in a statement: "When systems fail—whether through release decisions, lack of coordination, or unwillingness to act—the consequences are not abstract. They are real. And in our case, they are permanent. This case must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of both state and federal law. There can be no gaps, no shortcuts, and no second chances that put others at risk. Accountability must be complete.""Sheridan Gorman was a college student in Chicago with her whole life ahead of her, which was tragically cut short because of the Biden Administration’s open border policies. Make sure everyone in America knows Sheridan’s name and her story. We must stand with our law enforcement officers and END sanctuary cities.""My heart goes out to the heartbroken family of Sheridan Gorman. This sweet young Loyola freshman had a whole life ahead of her. Sheridan deserves justice. Let it begin this morning in the courtroom. Hold him. Prosecute him. Deport him to prison in El Salvador."Medina-Medina was in the hospital, so his court appearance will be continued, reported local news station WLS., ours is different: The Courageous Center—it's not"both sides," it's sharp, challenging and alive with ideas.
