The family of teenager Jay Slater, who went missing in Tenerife, have been left devastated after weeks of frantic searching ended with the tragic discovery of his body. The 19-year-old disappeared during his first holiday abroad with friends, spending his final weekend at a music festival before heading to a remote Airbnb with two older men.
The challenging search, conducted in fluctuating weather conditions ranging from scorching 30C heat to dense fog, focused on the park's thick vegetation and deep ravines. On Monday, July 15, Spanish police announced the grim discovery of a young man's body in a ravine near a phone mast, along with Jay's belongings and clothing.Fingerprints confirmed it was Jay, dashing any remaining hopes that the apprentice bricklayer might be found alive.
