The cast of HBO 's House of the Dragon has expanded with the addition of James Norton , who will portray the role of Ormund Hightower in Season 3 . The character, nephew to Otto Hightower and cousin to Alicent (Olivia Cooke) and Gwayne (Freddie Fox), was previously mentioned in Season 2 but will now have a face to the name. Ormund Hightower is set to arrive in King's Landing during Season 3 , joining the fray to support House Hightower against Team Black and Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy).
The series, based on George R.R. Martin's work and preceding the main events of Game of Thrones, has been renewed through Season 4, which will conclude the narrative. While there hasn't been any official confirmation about the commencement of filming for Season 3, the showrunner, Ryan Condal, has stated that filming is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2025. This aligns with the possibility that Milly Alcock, who played a younger Rhaenyra in Season 1, might only make a brief appearance due to her commitments to the film 'Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow'. Season 2 of House of the Dragon concluded with a fractured landscape, mirroring the emotional turmoil of Rhaenyra following the death of her son, Lucerys Velaryon. Rhaenyra and Daemon (Matt Smith) parted ways, with Daemon spending most of his time in Harrenhal. Meanwhile, Alicent fled after pleading with Rhaenyra to join her, but the call came too late.
