Padres pitching prospect Jagger Haynes strikes out a career-high 11 batters in win for Fort Wayne TinCaps
Tommy John surgery. Blisters. Shoulder woes. Jagger Haynes has been derailed at every corner since the Padres selected him in the fifth round in 2020. On Wednesday, he reminded the organization of his potential. The 21-year-old left-hander struck out a career-high 11 batters over 6⅔ innings, earning the win in high Single-A Fort Wayne’s 3-1 win at Lake County. Haynes’ previous best was a six-strikeout effort over six innings in his previous start in a no-decision.
Albuquerque 13, Chihuahuas 6: 3B Eguy Rosario drove in three runs on three hits, including his eighth homer. LF Tirso Ornelas went 2-for-2 with a double, two walks and a run scored. DH Graham Pauley went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. RHP Sean Reynolds allowed four runs in 2 ⅓ innings to start a bullpen game that saw five of six relievers allow runs. LHP Daniel Camarena allowed three runs in 1⅓ innings in the loss.
Missions 7, Corpus Christi 6 : Both C Brandon Valenzuela and 3B Marcos Castañon went 1-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored. Castañon’s second RBI was a walk-off sacrifice fly in extra innings. CF Clay Dungan went 1-for-3 with three walks, four runs scored and his ninth steal with the Missions. LHP Austin Krob allowed four runs on four hits and four walks in 3 ⅔ innings in the start.
Padres 12, Brewers 1 : SS Yimy Tovar drove in four runs on two hits, including a triple. LHP Ibrahyn Jimenez struck out four over five shutout innings of one-hit ball in the win
