We chat with MrHarrigansPhone star with star jaedenmartell about working with Donald Sutherland to bring Stephen King's novella characters to life:

Directed by John Lee Hancock, Mr. Harrigan’s Phone is available to stream on Netflix starting October 5. The film is based on the short story by Stephen King and centers around the friendship between Craig and Mr. Harrigan. However, after the older man passes, Craig finds that he is still able to reach him through his iPhone.

Screen Rant: Did you get a chance to talk to Stephen King about this character at all? Since he wrote the original short story? Jaeden Martell: It was the first time I'd heard of it. It's still fairly new, but it had come out pretty recently when the script first came around. John was quick to adapt it over. Yeah, so I hadn't ever heard it. I'd seen If It Bleeds everywhere, like the cover of the book, sort of at airports and whatever, subconsciously.

I think my relationship with Mr. Sutherland was mirroring the relationship Craig had with Harrigan just with how they eventually became closer, and how much Craig admired and looked up to Mr. Harrigan and how much he learned from him. And it was just a little bit accelerated for that span of his entire adolescence. For me, it was compacted into a few months.
