There’s something about Jack Harlow. “I’m using the camera’s reflection,” he says, looking into thecamera as he gets ready for the Met Gala at The Mark hotel. “You know how us narcissists are.” The 24-year-old rapper, who stands at a looming 6’3”, has a way of softening such a self-assured delivery. Maybe it’s the sweet little twinkle in his puppy dog eyes, maybe it’s his mischievous smirk that gives him a boyish sensitivity. Harlow knows his appeal.
Harlow is incredibly darling, even when he is pumping himself up, but there’s also a sweet naivety to him. He admits that he has only recently gotten into clothing. “I dressed so horribly in high school. It wasn’t until recently did I become vain and concerned with how I look,” he says, pointing out the parts of his look. “Carhartt pants and New Balance 550s. This hoodie’s Louis [Vuitton],” he adds, rolling lint off his sweatshirt. As for the bling? There’s only one thing: A single Rolex.
drops this year. “No matter what I am wearing in the studio, the beat transforms me into a different fit, depending on how I feel. The beats rap on are expensive-sounding and luxurious,” he says. “I picture myself in cashmere sweaters and suits.” We’re looking forward to seeing how that translates.
