Black Star, the duo of Yasiin Bey and Talib Kweli, have released their sophomore album, 'No Fear of Time,' their first album in 24 years
, which also happens to be their first album in nearly 24 years. The album is exclusively available on the subscription-based audio entertainment platform, Luminary.was released in 1998 and became an instant classic. Since then, while they’ve released projects on their own, the duo hasn’t released a full-length project together, though released an occasional song every few years.was produced by Madlib.
“About 3-4 years ago I was visiting Yasiin in Europe and we started to talk about songs to do on an album, so I flew an engineer out just to see what that would be,” Kweli said of the process. Once I realized this conversation is starting to organically become a creative conversation, I started making sure to have the engineer around at all times. There was one day we were just in a hotel listening to Madlib beats, and he’s like ‘Play that Madlib tape again.
Continuing, Kweli said that the duo never stepped foot in a recording studio throughout the entire production process. The whole album was “done in hotel rooms and backstage at Dave Chappelle shows.” A brand new lyric video for their single “o.G.” has also been released in conjunction with the album release.
