A run of 54 increases in 58 days totaling $1.045 ended Thursday when it dropped a half-cent, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It decreased 1.5 cents Friday. The average price is 31 cents more than one week ago, 65.9 cents higher than one month ago and 43.2 cents above what it was one year ago. It has dropped 43.3 cents since rising to a record $6.435 on Oct. 5.Sign up for NBC San Diego newsletters.
The national average price dropped for the fifth consecutive day following an 11-day streak of increases totaling 7.8 cents, decreasing eight- tenths of a cent to $3.851. It is 2 cents less than one week ago but six-tenths of a cent more than one month ago and 16.2 cents higher than one year ago.
