Skills learnt by playing the fantasy tabletop role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons could be transferable to the workplace, according to a university lecturer, who says it has team-building benefits.

He said while there was not yet extensive research, studies so far showed the game helped children improve their communication, self-awareness and critical thinking skills, and adults' team-building abilities developed by playing it.Dr Olsen said it was vital for players to understand the strengths and weaknesses of their teammates."You need a diversity of tools, skills and experiences to succeed.
Improvising and the ability for players to pivot were also crucial for a good game, but Dr Olsen said role-playing also allowed players to experience a different viewpoint.
