Early-stage parliamentary artificial intelligence software has predicted—in a do-bears-poop-in-the-woods manner—that any proposed law to introduce national 20mph speed limits and low-traffic neighborhoods would garner more support from Labour MPs than Tory MP.
The AI tool, known as Parlex, flagged that Sir Iain Duncan Smith, the former Tory leader, would be a key political opponent of such a law, and was described as “sceptical of blanket traffic-calming measures.” Given the MP’s much-voiced antipathy to such measures this conclusion is not much of analytical leap., pinpointed that Kerry McCarthy, Labour MP for Bristol East, would be “supportive of low traffic neighborhoods for improved air quality and safety.
Parlex has been fed with transcripts from the parliamentary record keeper Hansard and is said to quickly predict when policy could face significant opposition from MPs.
