Online comments from the co-creator of Deadpool in Marvel Comics, Rob Liefeld, seem to indicate that Deadpool 3 will push the titular character to the side in favor of Wolverine. When Deadpool 3 was announced in September 2022, it was also confirmed that Hugh Jackman would reprise his role as Wolverine.
This could mean that Liefeld's information is skewed somewhat, meaning his comments that Deadpool 3 is more of a Wolverine movie should be taken with a big grain of salt. Similarly, on a more obvious note, the film is still titled Deadpool 3. Rarely does Marvel Studios produce a film with a title that cannot be applied to the film's overall story, themes, or titular character.
Deadpool 3 Could Be A Proper Team-Up Unlike Deadpool 2 While Liefeld's comments about Deadpool 3 being a Wolverine movie are likely untrue, the film could still serve as a proper team-up story between the two characters. While Deadpool 2 included a team like the X-Force - which hilariously fell apart as quickly as it was formed - and Deadpool teamed up with characters like Domino, Cable, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and Colossus, it was still centered on Wade's character.
Deadpool 3 Could Feature Wade Wilson Changing Wolverine's Timeline One of the more likely ways Deadpool 3 will feature Wolverine is through the rumors of the TVA being prevalent in the film. Deadpool 3's inclusion of the TVA from Loki could be the catalyst for Jackman's return as Wolverine. The TVA was shown to target people from across the Marvel multiverse that messed with the timeline, something that Kang is now solely in control of after Loki's season 1 finale.
