They went live with Amazon.co.za.I’m joined on the line by the company’s managing director for Sub-Saharan Africa, Robert Koen, to unpack this and understand what it means for South Africa. This is a momentous occasion and quite a significant moment in the consumer lives of South Africans.

I was actually just across from our customer call centre, and feedback so far has been overwhelmingly positive and just great. Again, I’m very, very excited for our South African customers. And then the third one is just the experience – customer experience, I think, if you look at the 3 000 pickup points – and the rapid delivery. We are also offering 24/7 live customer support. So between the hours of six in the morning and midnight, you’ll be able to call in and speak to a real, live person.

JIMMY MOYAHA: Robert, I hear you teasing a lot about international products and product diversity. Are we looking at – or can consumers expect – international products through Amazon’s distribution network? You’ve got an international and global network; does that mean we’re going to be able to see more international products come into South Africa?
