The IRS will offer Saturday hours at select Taxpayer Assistance Centers to support taxpayers as the filing deadline approaches.

) has announced a new, special service that could benefit millions of U.S. taxpayers across multiple states, including Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia. In its official press release, the IRS announced it was introducing “special Saturday hours” at certain Taxpayer Assistance Centers across the United States for the next few months, which are designed to provide increased face-to-face support for millions of taxpayers as the April filing deadline approaches and demand for in‑person help rises.

The IRS is opening select TACs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on specific Saturdays until June 2026.Some locations—such as centers in Charlotte, North Carolina, and multiple cities in Puerto Rico—are scheduled to be open on all the Saturday dates listed above, while others may only be open on select Saturdays.that allows users to search for their nearest center, which are offering extended weekday and Saturday hours, and what services they can access. The move is part of a broader effort to improve customer service during the busiest part of the tax-filing season. In addition to the extra weekend availability, the IRS said more than 200 TACs are also extending weekday hours until April 30, giving taxpayers more opportunities to resolve their issues, in person, before the standard April 15 filing deadline. By adding weekend access and longer weekday hours, the agency aims to reduce wait times, improve service accessibility, and help taxpayers file their tax returns on time.TACs provide face‑to‑face support for a wide range of tax-related matters that can be difficult to resolve online or over the phone. During the special Saturday hours, the IRS says that most of the routine services normally available at IRS walk‑in centers during the week will be accessible, such as help with account questions, identity verification, payment plans, refunds, payments, forms, and Individual Taxpayer Identification Number renewal. Although cash payments will not be accepted during Saturday operations.Taxpayers planning to visit are encouraged to check ahead and bring proper documentation, such as government‑issued photo identification, Social Security numbers for household members, and any IRS notices or letters related to their issue., ours is different: The Courageous Center—it's not"both sides," it's sharp, challenging and alive with ideas.
