A new phishing scam is targeting iPhone users with fake 'Reset Password' notifications and impersonating Apple Support to steal sensitive information.

A recent iPhone security issue has emerged, targeting users with fake 'Reset Password' notifications. These alerts, appearing as legitimate system messages, prompt users to either 'Allow' or 'Do Not Allow' the use of their device to reset their Apple Account password. The relentless barrage of these notifications, combined with a subsequent phone call seemingly from Apple Support , aims to exploit user anxiety and trick them into divulging a crucial one-time code sent by Apple.

The attackers leverage this code to gain control of the victim's iPhone, effectively locking them out of their own device. The scam's modus operandi relies on the attacker's ability to continuously bombard the target with the 'Reset Password' notifications, creating a sense of urgency and panic. The phone call, purportedly from Apple Support, reinforces this fear, claiming that the account is under attack and the one-time code is needed to stop unauthorized access. However, complying with this request grants the attacker complete control over the device.Users are urged to remain vigilant and avoid engaging with these notifications. If a call from 'Apple Support' is received, it should be ignored. Under no circumstances should the one-time code be revealed to the caller. Even if two-factor authentication (2FA) is enabled, attackers can utilize it to their advantage, confirming their requests to change passwords for apps, including financial ones. The best defense against this attack is awareness and a steadfast refusal to divulge sensitive information
