ALEA and Tuskegee police want to know if a death investigation and a fatal wreck, which both happened Sunday in Macon County, are related.
ALEA says at about 5:56AM Sunday, they were asked to help Tuskegee police with the death investigation. ALEA said an incident, which hasn’t been described further, happened near the 200 block of East Martin Luther King Highway in Tuskegee. Investigators say 19-year-old Kandarius Green of Tuskegee and a 16-year-old were injured and arrived at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika with injuries. The 16-year-old was flown to another hospital and was pronounced dead. The 16-year-old’s name hasn’t been released.
Then, at about 1:35PM on Sunday, state troopers were called to a single-car crash in Macon County. They say the driver, 32-year-old William Howard, Jr. of Tuskegee, was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say the car had left the road and overturned. They say he was not using a seat belt and was thrown out of the car. The wreck happened on U.S. Highway 29, about five miles south of Tuskegee.
ALEA special agents, state troopers and the Tuskegee Police Department are investigating both incidents. Once complete, the findings will be turned over to the Macon County District Attorney’s Office.Closing arguments to start Wednesday in"Big John" Williams trial
