Tymir Murray, 20, turned himself in Friday evening, according to Dauphin County officials.
As of 7:30 p.m. Friday night, Murray was back in Dauphin County Prison and awaiting transport to state prison where he will serve his sentence.
“Prison officials acted appropriately upon the paperwork they initially received from the Clerk of Courts Office, which authorized Mr. Murray’s release,” McNaughton said. “We understand that action has been taken to ensure that such an error never happens again and that training for new employees remains a priority.”
Acting clerk of courts, Patti Sites, did not return PennLive requests for comment Thursday or Friday.Whitley was the first Democrat elected to the office in Dauphin County history, and replaced Sites, who spent 18 years in that office, with Cole Goodman, who until recently was vice chairman of the Dauphin County Democratic Committee. She made plans to hire a second deputy, Dauphin County Democratic Committee Chairman Rogette Harris.
